TUN DR MAHATHIR MOHAMAD BIOGRAPHY

                                                 



Assalamualaikum, today i want to write about our ex-Prime Minister that is TUN DR MAHATHIR MOHAMAD.. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is the fourth Prime Minister,, Tun Dr Mahathir was born on Friday 20 December 1925. Prince of the pair Mohamad bin Iskandar and Wan Tempani binti Wan Hanafi was born in house number 18, Ice Factory Lane, adjacent to Road Officer, Silver Cross, Alor Setar, Kedah. He was the youngest among nine siblings, Dr Mahathir started school at Silver Cross Malay School in 1930 for two years. He furthered his secondary education at the Goverment  English School, Alor Setar, and now it's  known as the Sultan Abdul Hamid College. He graduated with excellent results of Senior Cambridge in 1945.


In 1947, after graduating from secondary school level, Dr.Mahathir has offered a scholarship to Kedah to study medicine at King Edward VII College of Medicine, Singapore. While in College, he was a student who works hard and diligently in school, active in rugby and always concerned about the welfare of other students. In 1953, he was awarded a Doctor of  Medicine (MBBS) from University of Malaya. Armed with the approval of Dr. Mahathir has started its services in the government by becoming a trainee doctor at the Penang General Hospital. In 1954, Dr Mahathir was appointed as Medical Ofiicer in Alor Setar Genaral Hospital to meet the scholarship contract. 
His concern for Malaya economic and political problems expressed in the form of articles published by the Sunday Times under the pen name "CHE DET" between the years 1946-1950. Writing is one of interest in Dr. Mahathir until today. In 1945, when he was study at school, Dr. Mahathir has been the editor of Vatican City, the official magazines of the Sultan Abdul Hamid College of output. He also served as editor of magazine published by the Medical College where he studied. Persistence and determination to voice their opinions through writing has led him to produce a variety of publications including the book "The Malay Dilemma" which published in 1970.


Apart from writing, Dr. Mahathir also a hard read and adhere to the principles of  TUGUH that learning is a lifetime process. Professional and political claim did not stop him to make the art of woodworking as a hobby. Dr.Mahathir is known for his creative and have carpentry courses in Great Britain to improve j=his skill level. In 1989, based on continued interest in this field, Dr.Mahathir was awarded the Honorary Freedom of the Worshipful Company of Carpenters by Carpenters British Society. Participation of Dr. Mahathir in the political arena was not significant in the 1950 because he was studying at the University. However, he continued to write essays and commentary on issues of social-political in The Straits Times. Resignation as a government doctor in 1957 has enabled Dr. Mahathir is involved again in politics. He was selected to compete at the state elections in 1959, but rejected it.


During the 1964 general election, Dr. Mahathir was entrusted as a candidate and the won the Kota Setar parliamentary seat on the Alliance ticket. Starting from here he made a name in the society and the political scene. After winning the general election in 1964, Dr. Mahathir was appointed as a member of Parliament. However, he lost his seat in the next general election in 1969. Starting from here he made a name in the society and the political scene.  


Dr.Mahathir called the "Farher of  Modernisation of Malaysia " and is a leader longest in office as a Prime Minister, fro July 16, 1981 to October 31,2003.During the 22 years he held high-level administrative positions, a lot of progress and development he has planned and implemented. Although sometimes his idess and vision are poorly understood, but in fact he was a visionary and ahead of the game, and even farther from the minds of the Malays in particular. In 1997, Asia week magazine has named Dr. Mahathir as one of 50 most powerful people in Asia, where he came second in the list released by the magazine. His nomination was right because the world economy is in recession when the currency crisis hit, while many countries in the world, especially counties in Asia such as Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
During the period of 22 years as Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir has led Malaysia to tap into excellence. Malaysia has undergone various reforms physically, mentally and socially. Malysia has become a formidable and respected on the world stage. Malaysia's success as a developing country and a leading Islamic country in the region have recognized the world. Inheritance left by Dr.Mahathir can we see everywhere.
